International students has the posibility of studying in the Repubic of Lithuania thanks to several colleges offering dental studies. Dentists are trained in the two main universitys in the country placed at Vilnius and Kaunas, both having international relations with other institutions around Europe:
 
Kaunas Faculty of Odontology offers the students the possibility of combine both practical and theorical education within a studies program integrating dentistry studies and scientific research. After five year of undergraduates studies, in which dentistry subjects takes up about 47% of subjects, students has the choice of being specialized in several fields: endodontologist, oral surgeon, orthodontist, dental and maxilar orthopaedist, periodontologist, pediatric dentist. These subspecialty studies take 3 years. Studies are runned in both Lithuanian and English. The faculty cooperates and has strong international relations with the Aarhus University (Denmark), Oulu university (Finland), Riga’s Academy of Medicine (Latvia), Tartu university (Estonia). The Faculty of Medicine at Vilnius University also has special institute for the dentistry. The basic studies in the Institute of Odontolgy are of five-year duration (200 credits). There are five main centres in the Institute: Centre of Operative Dentistry and Periodontology, Centre of Prosthetic Dentistry, Centre of Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, Centre of Oral Pathology and Oral Surgery and Centre of Maxillofacial Surgery. Most of the studies are in lithuanian, so international applicants should pass a test before enroling. The Institute of Odontology cooperates with educational institutions of dentists in Scandinavian countries, Switzerland, Poland, Latvia, Turkey, Greece and Canada. More information...
 
 Besides the universities responsible for the training of dentists, Lithuania has several centers that deal with the high education and training of oral care specialists. Those collegues are Utena University of Applied Sciences, Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, Klaipėda State College, Panevezys College and Šiauliai State College. All of them have specifical studies focused on dental aid, as programs for oral hygienists or dental technicians. All colleges have international relations with foreign institutions for exchange students to come.
 
As the education is one the most important things to build a healthy society, Lithuanian Dental Chamber contributes to reach this aim by the commission of Informal Education. The Commissions initiated and The Council of the Chamber approved methods of refresher courses for dentists. The methods set up main principles of the courses and basic requirements for organizers. The documents states, that in order not to lose the qualification, a person needs every five years to attend the courses and obtain certain amount of professional training hours: dentists and dentists specialist, 120 hours; dental technicians and dental hygienists, 60 hours and dental assistants, 50 hours. Furthermore, the Chamber has worked during these years to improve the studies for dental care specialists, incluing the increasement of practical educations in dental techicians studies or ensuring that the programs for oral care specialistics were in compliance with the international and local medical standards which regulate the activities of the mentioned specialists.
